Job Description This full-time equivalent (FTE) conversion position is specifically for current Oracle OCI PhD interns who are looking to transition into full-time roles. This opportunity is geared toward students who will graduate with their Doctorate degree by, or have graduated within, 12 months of the cohort start date in June/July 2026. Target Start Date: Early June or mid-July 2026 Location: This position is fully in-office at our Seattle, WA or Redwood Shores, CA hub. Join the Oracle Generative AI Service team—a dynamic group delivering groundbreaking services at the intersection of artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure. Here, you will develop and manage large-scale cloud services using cutting-edge machine learning technologies, committed to providing top cloud products for our clients tackling complex global challenges. Your role includes collaborating with talented engineers to devise solutions for difficult problems in distributed, highly available services, and virtualized infrastructure. Every engineer enjoys a substantial technical and business impact, transforming innovative concepts into systems that support our customers' critical applications. Responsibilities: Collaborate with product managers to translate business needs into actionable AI projects. Work alongside technical leaders to ensure timely delivery of models and service integration. Coordinate with global teams to progress projects from research to production. Develop new OCI services and features, leveraging advances in generative AI, machine learning, and deep learning. Design and review the architecture of generative AI systems, adhering to best practices for data, models, training, and evaluation. Lead and mentor both junior and senior machine learning engineers. Produce production-ready code while promoting best practices in coding and engineering. Engage in project planning, reviews, and retrospective meetings. Identify and address potential risks in project execution, particularly at the intersection of business and engineering. What You'll Bring: (Objective Minimum Qualifications) PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Linguistics, or a related field, with a focus on Machine Learning and Deep Learning, by July 2026. Experience in designing and implementing scalable AI models for production environments. Strong technical understanding of Machine Learning and Deep Learning architectures, including Transformers, training methods, and optimizers. Practical experience with current technologies in large language models (LLMs) and generative AI, such as parameter-efficient fine-tuning and advanced prompt engineering techniques. Hands-on experience with emerging LLM frameworks and plugins (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, VectorStores, LLMOps). Proven ability in creating data collection/annotation solutions and evaluation methods for maintaining production systems. Commitment to remaining current in the field and applying academic advancements to complex business problems. Strong publication record as a lead author or reviewer in top-tier journals or conferences. Residency in the United States and/or attendance at a U.S. university. Capacity to obtain work authorization in the U.S. in 2026. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of LLM and experience in delivering Generative AI models is a significant advantage. Familiarity with advancements in computer vision and multimodal modeling is a plus. Minimum GPA of 3.0. The salary range for this role is between $97,500 and $199,500 per year, and may be eligible for bonuses and equity.
