Salary: $17.50 Hourly Location : 210 NW Ash Dr, Ankeny Job Type: Intern Job Number: 00675 Department: Parks and Recreation Opening Date: 12/17/2025 Closing Date: Continuous Function The City of Ankeny has a need for an individual for a summer internship. The internship is intended to provide on the job experience for those interested in helping maintain the sports complex fields and grounds in the Park & Recreation Department. This is a paid internship, $17.50/hour, 40 hours per week for thirteen weeks to begin May 18, 2026 and ending August 14, 2026. Application QR Code: Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesSpecific duties shall include, but not limited to: Clay work including infield skin, mounds, and home plate. Turf work including fertilizer and pesticide applications, mowing, and edging. All cultural practices including mowing, irrigation, aerification, topdressing, deep tine, slicing, etc. Basic equipment maintenance. Irrigation scheduling and repair. Wear management. Entry Requirements and SkillsAll applicants will be considered; however, preference will be given to current students majoring in Sports Turf or Golf Course Management. Must be able to work outside in extreme weather conditions. Must be at least 18 years old. Must maintain a valid Iowa drivers' license. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Outdoor setting, extreme weather conditions. This position is not eligible for health benefits but may be eligible for IPERS.
