Title: Manufacturing Equipment Installation Technician (Mechanical) - Night Shift Pay Rate Range: $39.00 - $41.00/hr. (DOE) Employment Type: Contract - 12 months (extension possible) Schedule: Full-time, Night Shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; overtime and periodic off-hours coverage required) Location: Newton, NC (100% Onsite; may also support Hickory, NC facility - local candidates only) Job Posting ID: CRNGJP00029132 Job Overview Tekberry is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician IV for our client, a global leader in advanced materials and manufacturing technologies. This role supports engineering project initiatives involving manufacturing capacity expansions, new equipment installation, and production line commissioning at the Newton, NC facility. This is an advanced, hands-on technical position. The technician will lead and support installation, debugging, and start-up of manufacturing equipment while working closely with engineers, maintenance teams, and vendors to bring new production lines online and ready for operations. Key Responsibilities Equipment Installation & Project Support Lead and/or participate in manufacturing engineering projects related to capacity additions and new equipment installations. Manage mechanical installation and debugging activities to meet project milestones and production timelines. Prepare production lines and associated components for operational handoff to manufacturing teams. Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to resolve technical issues and protect scope, schedule, and cost targets. Support commissioning, startup, and operational readiness of new manufacturing lines. Mechanical Troubleshooting & Repair Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of mechanical systems including pumps, motors, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, and gear systems. Align, test, and calibrate mechanical systems after installation. Diagnose complex equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions. Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to support installation and repair activities. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively. Process Improvement & Documentation Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety. Implement mechanical solutions and process improvements to enhance manufacturing performance. Manage spare part identification and coordinate storeroom entries. Develop and update engineering and operational documentation. Support training of operations personnel on equipment and process changes. Safety & Collaboration Maintain safe work practices and identify hazardous conditions proactively. Collaborate daily with engineers, operations, maintenance, and project teams. Support cross-functional problem solving and root cause investigations. Ensure compliance with industrial safety standards and procedures. Qualifications Required Education Associate's degree preferred High School diploma accepted with significant hands-on mechanical experience Required Experience 3+ years of experience installing and commissioning manufacturing equipment Experience in fast-paced manufacturing or project installation environments Experience supporting line startups or capacity expansion projects Required Skills Strong mechanical fundamentals and troubleshooting ability Expertise with hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, gear systems, and conveyor systems Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment Knowledge of industrial safety practices Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and CMMS systems) Strong communication and independent problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications Mechatronics trade background Millwright, welding, HVAC, or OSHA certifications Experience with commercial manufacturing equipment installations Vendor or contractor coordination experience CAD familiarity Work Environment 100% onsite in Newton, NC with occasional support at Hickory, NC Night shift (7PM-7AM) in an active manufacturing environment Frequent walking, standing, and working around industrial machinery Overtime and off-hours coverage may be required during installations and startups Why Tekberry We need hard-working, reliable employees.
