Property Controller

Property Controller Our client, a real estate investment and property management company, is seeking a Property Controller to oversee property?level accounting and lead a high?performing team.  Location:This role is hybrid, with on-site expectations three days per week in the Bay Area. Job Description:This opportunity offers visibility with senior leadership, involvement in joint?venture partnerships, and the ability to influence process improvements across a growing portfolio.  Responsibilities: Lead and oversee the full property accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for owners, lenders, and joint?venture partners. Direct the month?end close process, including review of financial statements, variance analysis, and ad hoc reporting. Manage and develop Accounting Managers, Supervisors, and their teams through coaching, goal setting, and performance management. Partner cross?functionally with Finance, FP&A, Operations, Asset Management, Investor Relations, Legal, and external partners on acquisitions, dispositions, refinances, and JV onboarding. Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external audits, strengthening internal controls and driving efficiencies through process improvements. Requirements: Minimum 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in a supervisory or leadership role. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred. Experience in real estate, property accounting, or joint?venture accounting. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non?financial stakeholders. Proven ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across internal and external partners.
