The Opportunity We are looking for a Senior Protection and Control Technician who thrives in dynamic environments, leads with assurance, and possesses hands-on expertise in mission-critical projects. In this role, you will oversee commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting advanced protective relaying schemes across generation, transmission, and distribution substations. What You'll Do Lead the commissioning, installation, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment, DFRs, SCADA systems, and automation systems. Perform advanced end-to-end relay testing utilizing Doble Protection Suite, Omicron Test Universe, and RTS. Conduct functional and scheme testing including reclosing, breaker failure, advanced logic, and communication-assisted protection schemes. Troubleshoot and optimize communications protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, and 8979 using tools like Wireshark, Accelerator, and ASE 2000. Develop and enhance standardized commissioning and testing procedures for efficiency and effectiveness. Mentor junior technicians while overseeing field execution to ensure safety and quality. Partner with clients, vendors, and engineering teams to deliver outstanding reliability in our projects. Preferred Experience 5+ years of field experience in relay testing, calibration, and substation commissioning without direct supervision. In-depth knowledge of three-phase power systems, protection schemes, and SCADA integration. Proficient in using Omicron, Doble, Vanguard, and related test equipment. Skilled in RTS, Test Universe, Protection Suite, and Accelerator. Possess strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed.
