Company Overview A reputable construction firm known for its commitment to quality projects is looking for a skilled Construction Financial Controller to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the accounting and finance operations, ensuring precise financial reporting and robust internal controls. Position Summary The Construction Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial functions within the company. This role entails supervising a dedicated team and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. A strong background in the construction industry is essential, specifically with job cost accounting, work-in-progress reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting. We are seeking a proactive leader who can collaborate effectively with operations and upper management. Key Responsibilities Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger functions, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and job cost accounting. Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team to enhance their skills. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to reflect true company performance. Oversee work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and ensure accurate percentage-of-completion reporting. Guarantee timely job costing and cost reporting for ongoing projects. Lead the annual budgeting process while assisting with forecasting and cash flow management. Strengthen and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures for the finance department. Coordinate effectively with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners. Provide actionable financial analysis and reporting to executive leadership. Qualifications At least 10 years of accounting and finance experience in the construction sector. Prior experience as a Controller or in a senior accounting leadership role is required. Expert knowledge of construction accounting, specifically job costing and WIP management. Experience in managing and supervising an accounting team. CPA certification is a plus, but not mandatory. Familiarity with Sage 300 is advantageous, though not required. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems. Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
