Job Title: z/OS Computer Operator Location: Raleigh, NC 27607 (Onsite) Duration: 12+ Months This position is assigned to first shift Monday - Friday with work hours from 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM with occasional holidays and weekends. You must be able to work these hours to be considered for this position. LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY This position is to work onsite five days a week. Interested candidates will need to come in person for an interview. CANDIDATE REQUIRED TO ANSWER TECHNICAL QUESTIONS ON THE SKILLS TAB!!!! Description: The client seeks an experienced computer operator to monitor and maintain operational status of systems and telecommunications lines for Judicial Branch locations across the state. Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following: Operate a z/OS SYSPLEX environment with multiple LPARs. Operate computer consoles to ensure data files are entered as required by production schedules. Initialize and halt systems without data loss. Control the SYSPLEX environment and peripherals. Notify users and other appropriate personnel of problems and consequent status; maintain job run and incident logs and record of reports run. Monitor and maintain the CA ESP job scheduler. Lifting (30lbs) and some bending required. Be able to cover alternate shift hours as needed. This position reports to the Computer Room Manager and works with the Operations and Systems team. Knowledge of: computer operations and associated peripherals; and computer programming techniques. Skills in: JES, MVS, JCL, z/OS SYSPLEX, and CA ESP job scheduler highly preferred. Ability to: operate the mainframe computer console and follow procedures exactly to ensure timely and accurate program production; identify systems or equipment failures; identify and report programming malfunctions; understand complex instructions, both written and oral; and effectively communicate with others. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from high school and twenty-four (24) months of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Management requires applicants with at least three (3) years of experience supporting a z/OS SYSPLEX environment. CA ESP scheduling experience is highly preferred. For more detals email at emily.l@
