Mechanical Engineer Location: McLeansville, North Carolina Type: Contract Job #87328 Our DoD/Aerospace client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a 12-month contract in McLeansville, NC (Hybrid/Flex). This role supports undersea mission systems, focusing on mechanical design, analysis, and validation of mission-critical hardware used in demanding defense environments. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related STEM field) and 2+ years of experience (or Master's with 6+ months). U.S. citizenship is required, and candidates must be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret clearance. Location: McLeansville, NC (Hybrid) Position: Mechanical Engineer (Contract) Duration: 12 - 24 months with possibility of going direct Pay Rate: $49.36/hr Schedule: First shift Key Responsibilities Perform mechanical design and analysis in support of undersea mission systems and related defense programs Support the development, analysis, and verification of critical undersea hardware Collaborate with cross functional engineering teams to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and compliance requirements Contribute to design reviews, testing activities, and prototype fabrication efforts Apply sound engineering judgment while working within technical, government, and industry standards Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline Minimum of 2 years of relevant engineering experience OR Master's degree with 6 months of related engineering experience Security Clearance Requirements Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance within a reasonable time after hire Candidates selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work performed within secure facilities Preferred Skills and Experience Experience using ANSYS and MATLAB for mechanical analysis Ability to mentor or train others on engineering analysis tools Experience performing Shock Grade B analysis Strong knowledge of materials specifications and metallurgy, particularly as applied to defense and aerospace systems What Sets You Apart Proficiency with CAD modeling tools to develop mechanical models and detailed drawings Strong understanding of manufacturing and fabrication methods Familiarity with technical, government, and industry standards applicable to defense programs Creative problem solver capable of leading design, testing, and prototype fabrication efforts Collaborative team player who thrives in cross functional environments Commitment to continuous professional development for yourself and team members Workplace Options This position offers Hybrid/Flex work options.
