Salary: $13.02 - $15.52 Hourly Location : City Hall Burnsville, MN Job Type: Seasonal Job Number: 2026-00390 Department: Parks, Recreation, & Facilities Opening Date: 02/01/2026 Closing Date: 5/22/2026 12:00 PM Central Position Details Our Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department is a team of talented individuals who work to provide access to facilities, maintain parks and trails, and run recreation programs and events that matter to our community. As a Market Garden Intern, you will grow food for the community while promoting sustainable agriculture, healthy eating, and equitable food access in the Burnsville area. The hours for this role are Mon - Fri, 8:00 am - 11:30 am, with an ideal start date of June 9, 2026, and end date of September 1, 2026. Optional weekend and after-school hours will be available in September & October. You can expect to work 10-15 hours a week. This role is non-exempt (hourly) and has a starting wage of $13.02/hr. How you'll use your strengths every day The Market Garden Intern values people and perspectives by: Providing produce donations to local food shelves. Preparing the garden site for the winter conditions at the end of the season. They are on the leading edge when they: Help to create and maintain Burnsville's first Food Forest and Market Garden. Provide fresh, healthy food to the community. And they expect the best by: Maintaining the market garden and maintaining garden irrigation lines. Planting seeds, removing weeds, and caring for the garden. Harvesting produce and preparing it for distribution per food safety guidelines. What you'll bring to help you be successfulMust be at least 14 years of age by the first day of work. Must be able to get to the Burnsville Civic Center Campus Location - 100 Civic Center Parkway. A background or interest in local government work serving the community. An interest in developing what you do best and a commitment to valuing each colleague for their unique perspectives. The position involves working in natural outdoor settings, including soil, plants, insects, and wildlife, and may include heat, humidity, and other typical conditions of a Minnesota summer.
