Controller (Direct Hire)

Job Full Description Job Title: Controller Location: Dallas, TX Department: Finance & Accounting Reports To: EVP Pay: $75k-$125k + Bonus Opportunities and Profit Sharing Job Type: Direct Hire Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to oversee the financial operations of our insulation wholesale distribution company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supporting strategic financial planning. This role is critical to maintaining the financial health and operational efficiency of the organization. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Provide financial insights to support business decisions. Accounting Operations Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and inventory accounting. Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies. Manage month-end and year-end close processes. Budgeting & Forecasting Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting. Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis. Internal Controls & Compliance Develop and maintain internal control systems to safeguard assets. Ensure compliance with tax regulations and other financial reporting requirements. Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit processes. Team Leadership Supervise and mentor accounting staff. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. ERP & Systems Management Oversee financial systems and recommend improvements. Collaborate with IT and operations to ensure system integration and data accuracy. Human Resources Coordinate personnel matters with key executives and management. Evaluate and manage employee benefits programs. Maintain the employee records for proper tracking and management. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred). 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in wholesale distribution or manufacturing. Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems ( expertise in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise strongly preferred). Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment that is fairly unstructured. Preferred Experience: Experience in inventory management and cost accounting. Familiarity with insulation products or building materials industry. Prior involvement in system implementations or upgrades.
