Position Summary: Ajax/CECO/Erie Press is seeking a Quality Manager to join our team. The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) in a forging manufacturing facility. This role ensures that all products meet customer, regulatory, and internal specifications through effective quality assurance and control practices. The Quality Manager leads Inspection personnel, drives root cause analysis and corrective action, supports compliance with ISO and customer requirements, and fosters a plant-wide culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. Job Duties: - Responsible for maintaining and updating the facility's Quality Management System (QMS). Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001 or IATF 16949, if applicable). Maintain documentation, control of records, and process audits. - Responsible for all internal and external quality audits including ISO. - Manage and develop quality inspectors, auditors, and technicians. Provide direction, training, and performance feedback to ensure department goals are met. - Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality audits, complaints, and inquiries. Ensure products meet all internal specifications and external requirements. - Lead investigations of non-conformances, customer complaints, and internal quality issues. Use tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, and fishbone analysis to drive sustainable corrective actions. - Monitor incoming, in-process, and final inspection procedures. Ensure documentation is completed accurately and consistently. - Collaborate with supply chain and engineering teams to evaluate and develop suppliers. Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions as needed. - Support lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve quality processes, reduce scrap, and enhance first-pass yield. - Promote plant-wide awareness of quality objectives and expectations. Deliver training on quality standards, problem-solving techniques, and inspection criteria. - Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as scrap and rework rates, customer returns, audit findings, and corrective action closures. Present data to plant leadership and drive actions based on trends and analysis. What you need to be successful: - 8+ years of progressive experience in Quality in a manufacturing environment - 2+ years of leadership experience - 2+ years of experience in metal forging or heavy industrial manufacturing. - Strong knowledge of quality tools (FMEA, control plans, PPAP, APQP, SPC, etc.) - Proficient in Microsoft Office, quality software systems, and ERP/MRP platforms - Working knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or other relevant industry standards Preferences: - Proficient in troubleshooting and problem-solving issues related to product defects or process inefficiencies. - Knowledge in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
