Surgery Manager Job DescriptionLocation: Austin, TXSalary: 90k-130kPosition Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Surgery Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Surgery department. This role is responsible for ensuring effective staffing, maintaining productivity, and upholding the highest standards of patient care. Responsibilities: Manage the planning, direction, and control of staffing assignments in line with departmental objectives and policies. Supervise the preparation and completion of work schedules to ensure adequate staffing, including on-call coverage. Monitor daily performance and ensure the department meets productivity targets and performance benchmarks. Recommend staffing adjustments with appropriate justification to the Director of Surgical Services. Conduct interviews, make hiring recommendations, and provide input on promotions, transfers, and terminations. Review and approve personnel performance appraisals and set goals for each employee; conduct performance evaluations for supervisors. Administer counseling and progressive discipline as necessary, ensuring proper documentation. Maintain and review personnel attendance records and files. Facilitate regular communication with supervisors and staff through in-service training and staff meetings. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings with physicians and other departments. Attend mandatory hospital staff and educational meetings, documenting attendance. Assist in preparing the unit budget as directed by the Director of Surgical Services. Qualifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification to be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the relevant area of expertise and at least 2 years in a supervisory or charge nurse role within Surgery/Day Surgery.
