Assistant Controller

Assistant Controller We are seeking a wine-industry accounting professional with progressive track record to step into the position of Assistant Controller for an esteemed winery property in the heart of Napa Valley. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of winery accounting and operations, with the proven ability to perform at both a strategic and operational level. This role will be responsible for timely financial reporting, managing the GL, inventory and COGS in addition to overseeing a small team. As a forward thinker, the Assistant Controller will be instrumental in identifying areas of improvement and making recommendations to senior leadership. An understanding of systems and ability to lead implementations is also critical for the success of this position. Overview of Duties: Oversee the accounting functions & GL maintenance for multiple entities. Manage month end close process, prepare and review financial statements for accuracy Conduct detailed analysis of accounts to identify variances, trends, and key indicators Collaborate with department managers to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making. Analyze financial data and build custom reporting tools as needed to support forward planning initiatives. Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field Minimum 5+ years accounting experience in a winery environment, in addition to 2+ years public accounting highly preferred. Management experience required. Strong technical capability to navigate industry specific software in addition to advanced level Excel proficiency.
