Temporary associates are not eligible for benefits but may participate in the company's 401(k) program. Key Responsibilities Design and facilitate engaging, person-centered programs that resonate with residents’ interests, including specialized small group activities. Collaborate with residents to develop and maintain a monthly calendar of activities, ensuring all planned events occur smoothly. Ensure dementia care programs adhere to Brookdale's standards and comply with all regulations. Educate families and staff on Alzheimer's and dementia care, providing targeted training for associates. Supervise Clare Bridge Program Assistants, including hiring, coaching, and performing evaluations. Plan and execute special events and community outreach initiatives. Report changes in residents' health to the clinical team and actively collaborate on intervention strategies. Oversee social media content to reflect Brookdale's culture and standards. Coordinate community outings, which may include driving community vehicles. Manage the department’s budget and ensure the smooth operation of volunteer programs. Assist with personal care, housekeeping, and dietary responsibilities as needed. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in therapeutic recreation, gerontology, education, or a related field, along with a minimum of two years of direct experience working with older adults and individuals with dementia. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered. Certification and Licenses A valid driver's license and a current 3-year driving record with minimal violations are required. A commercial driver's license may also be necessary based on community needs. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and sit for prolonged periods. Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. Frequent interactions with residents, coworkers, and vendors. Occasional weekend, evening, or overnight hours may be required. Possible exposure to communicable diseases and various hazards. Decision-Making This role involves using independent judgment based on established guidelines to address various issues, understanding when to seek supervision. Knowledge and Skills A solid understanding of program principles and effective interpersonal skills are essential.
