This is a hybrid position requiring 8 days per month at an approved Wolters Kluwer location. Join our dynamic InnovateHub, a startup-within-an-enterprise, as an Associate Director of AI Product Engineering. In this role, you'll be pivotal in shaping AI solutions collaboratively with customers from our Tax and Accounting product range. Your focus will be on creating innovative AI features that address real challenges faced by accounting professionals instead of prioritizing technology for its own sake. At InnovateHub, we foster collaboration between engineers and product managers, allowing for a deep understanding of business challenges and enabling product managers to prototype their visions. Our approach includes agile methodologies, rapid feedback loops, and a commitment to solving the right problems through team alignment and knowledge sharing. This role is perfect for an individual who thrives at the crossroad of technical expertise and strategic leadership. You will design solutions, write code, mentor engineers, build organizational capacity in AI, and co-create with customers to tackle real-world issues in the tax and accounting sectors. Key Responsibilities: Major Initiative Leadership: Champion the end-to-end delivery of complex AI products, achieving production readiness in weeks, not quarters. Steer the technical strategy for initiatives, make quick architectural decisions, and facilitate collaboration across engineering teams. Hands-On Technical Guidance: Design and develop AI capabilities using Python, TypeScript, and contemporary frameworks for document intelligence and agentic platforms within CCH Axcess. Oversee 1-2 technical workstreams or cross-functional initiatives from conception through to production. Make informed architectural choices that balance technical excellence with compliance needs. Guide and nurture Lead and Senior Engineers via pair programming, code reviews, and architectural mentorship. Establish standards, reusable infrastructures, and frameworks that enhance team efficiency. Customer-Centric Co-Design: Facilitate early access programs and technical validation sessions with accounting firms. Deliver production-ready software through rapid feedback loops, prioritizing measurable business outcomes. Present technical solutions to customers and executive stakeholders clearly and effectively. Requirements: Technical Leadership: 7+ years of experience in building software applications with a focus on Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and cloud-native architectures (Azure preferred). At least 1 year of hands-on experience with AI systems or language models (NLP preferred). Full-stack development skills with an emphasis on modern frameworks and cloud services. Familiarity with Agile/XP practices, including TDD/BDD and pair programming. Proficiency in AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or related platforms. AI/ML Knowledge: Experience with LLM platforms like LangChain, OpenAI APIs, and Azure OpenAI. Understanding of RAG architectures, vector databases, and semantic search technologies. Experience implementing MLOps practices and monitoring AI systems. Organizational Influence: Proven ability to build scalable capabilities (training, standards, frameworks) beyond immediate teams. Strong mentorship skills and a commitment to fostering a collaborative engineering culture. Exceptional communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and promoting cross-organizational adoption. Compliance & Domain Understanding: Experience with AI governance and compliance frameworks, particularly concerning sensitive data. Knowledge of data security, privacy regulations, and audit controls. Background in document processing, financial data analysis, or B2B professional software. Preferred Qualifications: Microsoft Azure AI-102 certification is a strong asset. Experience with Azure AI services and advanced AI frameworks. Experience in fast-paced environments such as startups that emphasize customer collaboration and quick delivery of value. Background in document processing or B2B software solutions is a plus. History of developing training initiatives that enhance organizational knowledge. Publication record in AI/ML or recognized expertise in the field. We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply, especially those with strong technical backgrounds and leadership experience in customer-oriented, innovative settings. Our Culture: At Wolters Kluwer, we operate on core values that emphasize customer success, continuous improvement, high aspirations, and teamwork. We seek to deliver exceptional solutions for our clients while striving for excellence and fostering collaboration within our teams. Our interviews assess your unique skills and experiences. Authenticity is key, and we will ensure that the true you is showcased in the interview process. Therefore, we request the removal of virtual backgrounds and the inclusion of in-person evaluation as necessary. Using AI-generated outputs or third-party support during interviews may lead to disqualification. Candidates may need to attend onsite at a Wolters Kluwer office as part of the recruitment process. Compensation: $133,400.00 - $238,400.00 USD, with eligibility for bonuses. Final base salary will be influenced by various factors, including skills and experience. Your recruiter will provide specific offer details during the hiring process.
