Position Summary The Preventive Maintenance (PM) Technician (aka Greaser) is responsible for performing scheduled preventive maintenance activities on food processing equipment, utilities, and facility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and sanitary operations. This role supports compliance with OSHA safety regulations, including Lockout/Tagout (29 CFR 1910.147), and contributes to the facility’s FSMA-compliant Food Safety Plan and SQF-certified management systems by ensuring equipment is maintained in hygienic and operational condition. The PM Technician performs essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Essential Functions The following duties are considered essential functions of the position. Preventive Maintenance Execution • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on production equipment, packaging machinery, conveyors, pumps, motors, and related systems • Inspect equipment for wear, damage, or potential failure and document findings • Replace parts, lubricate components, adjust mechanisms, and calibrate equipment as required • Maintain accurate PM logs and maintenance recordsSafety & Regulatory Compliance • Follow OSHA regulations and company safety procedures • Perform energy isolation procedures in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 (Lockout/Tagout) • Participate in LOTO training as an authorized employee • Follow electrical safety practices and use appropriate PPE • Comply with confined space entry requirements when applicable • Identify and report unsafe conditions immediately Food Safety & Sanitary Maintenance • Perform maintenance activities in accordance with hygienic maintenance practices • Protect product zones during maintenance activities to prevent contamination • Use food-grade lubricants and approved materials where required • Coordinate with QA and Sanitation prior to returning equipment to service • Support allergen control and foreign material prevention initiatives Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement • Identify root causes of recurring mechanical or operational issues • Recommend improvements to PM programs and equipment reliability • Support continuous improvement and downtime reduction initiatives Utility & Facility Support • Assist with maintenance of plant utilities, including compressed air, water systems, and refrigeration (as trained and authorized) • Support basic boiler, wastewater, or ammonia refrigeration system maintenance tasks as directed and within training scope • Escalate complex or licensed-required repairs to qualified personnel Documentation & Audit Support • Maintain clear, accurate, and complete maintenance documentation • Support internal audits, regulatory inspections, and third-party certification audits • Ensure PM records are complete and audit-ready Attendance & Reliability • Maintain regular and predictable attendance • Work assigned shifts, including weekends, overtime, or emergency call-ins as required Marginal (Non-Essential) Functions • Assist with the installation of new equipment • Support capital improvement projects • Participate in training or cross-functional initiatives • Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications • High school diploma or GED • Experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in food manufacturing • Knowledge of mechanical systems, basic electrical systems, and troubleshooting methods • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and maintenance procedures Preferred Qualifications • Technical certification in industrial maintenance or a related field • Authorized LOTO employee training • Experience in SQF-certified facilities • Familiarity with refrigeration or ammonia systems (awareness level) • Basic PLC troubleshooting knowledge Physical Demands (ADA-Compliant) • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation • Ability to use hand and power tools • Ability to work in varying temperatures and manufacturing environments Work Environment • Food processing and packaging facility • Exposure to moving machinery, electrical systems, wet surfaces, and temperature variation • Possible exposure to food allergens, cleaning chemicals, lubricants, and refrigeration systems • Required PPE may include safety footwear, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, arc-rated PPE (as applicable), and protective clothing Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Statement Sandridge Crafted Foods is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
