Job Description

ABOUT Serve your country as a part-time physician while enjoying the benefits of a rewarding medical career. This role allows you to remain in your current location without the need for relocation. As a Navy commissioned physician, you will provide care to service members and their families similarly to a civilian doctor. Experience an accelerated career path with opportunities to engage in humanitarian relief efforts both domestically and internationally. Navy healthcare offers an environment focused on medical practice without the complexities of running a private practice, such as start-up costs, malpractice insurance, staffing, and office management. As a Navy Physician, you will: Receive outstanding compensation in a thriving medical practice. Work with manageable patient ratios for high-quality, personalized care. Gain hands-on experience and participate in Navy-funded advanced training. Enjoy a flexible schedule that allows ample time for family and personal endeavors. As a Physician and Officer in the Navy Medical Corps, you will be an integral member of the esteemed Navy healthcare team. Your responsibilities will include: Diagnosing ailments and treating injuries. Providing life-saving medical care. Working at leading military medical facilities on land, at sea, and in various field environments. Collaborating with top healthcare professionals and international relief organizations. Gaining leadership experience within your specialty and exposure to diverse medical practices. As a part-time Reservist, your duties will be scheduled during drilling and training periods. Typically, Navy physicians serve close to their homes during monthly drills, allowing you to expand your medical experience without affecting your civilian practice. For annual training, physicians may be deployed worldwide, serving on ships, in hospitals, or at military bases. PAY & BENEFITS Repayment of qualified education loans over a maximum of 3 years while serving. Post 9/11 GI Bill with potential benefits transfer to family members. No-cost or low-cost medical and dental care for you and your family. 30 days of paid vacation annually. Full MWR Privileges including recreational activities. Commissary and Exchange Privileges. Space 'A' availability for air travel. VA Home Loan access and miscellaneous military discounts. Enrollment into the Uniformed Services Blended Retirement System. Specialized training to enhance your leadership in the medical field. Work primarily one weekend a month with flexible drilling options available. JOB REQUIREMENTS MD or DO degree from an accredited U.S. medical school, or foreign graduates with an ECFMG certificate. Current U.S. medical license in a state, District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico. Eligibility for board certification. Completion of at least one year of approved graduate medical education internship. Must be between 21 and 42 years old (case-by-case waivers available up to 68). U.S. citizenship is required. HOW TO APPLY If you are in the Inactive Ready Reserve or have been off active duty for more than six months, connect with a Navy Officer Recruiter to start the affiliation process.
