Packaging Operations Specialist Position Overview This is an ILWU - Longshore / Warehouse Union position with working hours from Monday to Friday, 6 am to 2:30 pm, located at Building B80. Your Responsibilities Include: Conduct visual inspections of product vials for defects, contamination in media filled vials, and quality of packaging components. Adhere to cGMP standards, maintaining accurate data records in associated BPRs/EBRs and inventory management systems. Assemble products and components for packaging according to production schedules and bills of materials, while performing necessary inventory adjustments. Set up and safely operate packaging line equipment, ensuring smooth operation and distribution of components and supplies throughout the process. Unload incoming products, checking for defects in closure systems and ensuring all lot information is accurate. Organize and manage products within 2-8C cold rooms, ensuring proper securing and storage of in-process products and components. Conduct line clearances and reconcile product and components, always in compliance with safety and cGMP regulations. Maintain cleanliness and functionality of production equipment and facilities. Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis of equipment issues, making necessary adjustments to improve reliability. Contribute to ongoing continuous improvement efforts within the operation. Take on other related tasks as necessary. Who You Are Required Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Fluency in English, with strong reading, writing, and comprehension skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Consistent attendance and performance records. Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Basic computer literacy and familiarity with SAP. Able to perform basic math functions. Ability to maintain production output at established line speeds (6-9 seconds/vial). Maintain a clean work environment per cGMP standards. Trained in preparing cleaning solutions as necessary. Preferred Qualifications: Experience operating automated equipment. Able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 300 lbs. with assistance. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods. Capable of handling repetitive motions, bending, and reaching as required. Ability to pass initial and annual vision examinations. Willingness to work without heavy makeup or hand lotion. Ability to identify color-coded labels. Willingness to wear protective clothing when necessary, including latex, nitrile, or cotton gloves. Able to work in environments that may contain dust, corrugated materials, and chemicals. Employees can expect a competitive union wage of $41.15 per hour, with potential for bonuses or incentives.
