Job Summary Core & Main is actively seeking a highly organized and experienced leader in construction and facilities to drive our real estate expansion and facility management efforts across the U.S. and Canada. Reporting to the Senior Director of Real Estate, this pivotal role will guide a team of construction managers and manage key third-party partnerships, essential to our growing real estate portfolio. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment and possess a solid understanding of warehouse construction best practices to ensure projects are completed on time. Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities Develop and execute a comprehensive construction and facilities program aligned with organizational objectives while building and managing a high-performing, agile team. Oversee construction projects and capital planning, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery by effectively balancing internal resources with external partnerships. Lead a team of construction managers, providing coaching, performance feedback, and fostering career development. Negotiate and manage vendor contracts to ensure cost control and high-quality service delivery. Conduct site assessments, project scoping, due diligence, and pre-construction meetings, rapidly preparing and finalizing scope, budget, and timeline estimates in support of real estate negotiations and approvals. Manage the pre-qualification of site feasibility concerning zoning and usage requirements. Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, NFPA, environmental standards, and local building codes, obtaining necessary permits and certifications. Manage project timelines, critical dates, budgets, and associated communication and reporting processes. Hold the team accountable for milestone tracking and project timelines. Proactively manage project risks and regularly communicate progress to key stakeholders including real estate, field and branch leadership, and third-party vendors. Review pay applications, sworn statements, and lien waivers for compliance and accuracy. Perform additional duties as required to support relocations, remodels, and facility repair and maintenance projects. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field. 7-10+ years of directly related experience in a construction manager role within industrial and light industrial warehouses. At least 3 years of experience managing a national construction program and critical vendor partnerships at scale. Expertise in implementing and leveraging construction management software. Ability to interpret construction contracts, specifications, surveys, blueprints, and related drawings. Proficient understanding of zoning laws, construction schedules, building (IBC), fire suppression codes (NFPA), OSHA, ADA, and tenant improvement buildout scopes. Ability to establish trust and navigate relationships with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs). Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail, capable of managing multiple projects, prioritizing tasks, managing timelines, and controlling budgets. Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders and consultants. High proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience managing construction projects and relationships with trades/vendors in Canada is a plus. Environmental Job Requirements Willingness to travel approximately 50%. This position will be based out of the St. Louis, MO Corporate Office.
