We are looking for a Senior Category Manager to spearhead the execution of complex, innovative, and large-scale Ops construction projects. In this dynamic role, you will collaborate closely with a talented team of construction category managers and engage with key partners across Pre-Construction, Design, Construction, Worldwide Real Estate, and Worldwide Design. Your efforts will help shape and implement effective category sourcing strategies that not only deliver significant savings and value but also enhance productivity across our operations. Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders at all levels is essential, including upper management, to facilitate informed decision-making. Key Responsibilities: Lead GC construction category projects, collaborating with the team to deliver complex, high-value sites. Develop and implement long-term sourcing strategies while steering initiatives with cross-functional teams; guide the decision-making process of the category roadmap in partnership with senior leadership. Establish solid relationships and alignment with stakeholders to effectively schedule and execute site launches, especially during critical periods like Prime Week and Peak Season. Take ownership of targets and goals across the North America GC construction category, while continuously identifying opportunities for process and system enhancements. Manage supplier sourcing, awarding contracts, overseeing project support, and maintaining ongoing supplier relationships to optimize cost and performance. Lead supplier performance management initiatives, with a focus on enhancing sustainability and social responsibility. Develop Key Performance Indicators and establish objectives for the team. Monitor team progress to ensure alignment with customer expectations. Act as a market intelligence resource for the categories, anticipating opportunities and keeping stakeholders informed. Travel required: up to 10%. A Day in the Life: Deliver market-leading, cost-effective, and innovative construction services and equipment to support our Operations teams, ensuring we meet the needs of Amazon.com customers with speed, selection, and convenience. Collaborate with external suppliers and internal partners across Design & Construction, Operations Engineering, Workplace Health & Safety, and Finance. Be prepared to adapt roles between strategy development and project management to quickly address customer needs. Focus on exploring categories to unlock value and implement emerging technologies at scale for our Operations. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as supply chain, business, engineering, or finance. Experience defining and executing program requirements. Proven ability to implement repeatable processes and drive automation or standardization initiatives. A minimum of 5 years in strategic sourcing and category management for indirect categories such as professional services, maintenance, or vendor management. At least 7 years of construction cost management experience. Intermediate knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables, charts, and complex formulas. 7+ years of experience in supply chain, forecasting, and procurement. Preferred Qualifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Proven experience leading large and complex negotiations. 7+ years of experience in construction management or working with general contractors and managing supplier diversity initiatives.
