API Platforms Infrastructure Engineering Manager

As the leader of Platform Engineering for Enterprise API Platforms, you will be at the forefront of shaping our API strategies and driving transformation. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring you to be in the office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday), at one of our locations in Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT, or Charlotte, NC. Key Responsibilities: Platform Leadership: Act as the Platform Application Owner, ensuring compliance with enterprise security standards, audits, and resiliency requirements. Scalability & Performance: Design and execute auto-scaling strategies, optimize for cost-effectiveness, and continually monitor system performance. Resiliency & Disaster Recovery: Establish and validate disaster recovery strategies to ensure high availability across regions. Environment Configuration: Oversee Apigee configurations, capacity planning, performance tuning, and auto-scaling efforts. Infrastructure-as-Code: Lead automation initiatives by implementing Infrastructure-as-Code for provisioning and configuration. Team Leadership: Mentor and guide a high-performing Platform Engineering team to achieve ambitious goals and metrics. Platform Stability: Implement robust monitoring and incident response strategies to ensure reliable API operations. Required Experience: Overall Experience: 8+ years in platform engineering and infrastructure, with a successful track record in leading teams to develop scalable and reliable systems. Google Cloud Expertise: 2+ years of hands-on experience with Apigee in Google Cloud Platform (or similar) including configuration management and performance scalability. Leadership: At least 2 years of direct management experience overseeing infrastructure or platform engineering teams. Operational Excellence: Demonstrated ability to maintain platform stability, conduct disaster recovery tests, and effectively manage incidents. Player-Coach: Willingness to engage directly in Apigee engineering while also mentoring team members. Collaboration & Modernization: Proven experience in driving platform transformation initiatives while creating an inclusive and engaging team environment. Preferred Experience: Experience as an Enterprise Application Platform Owner for API or middleware platforms. Involvement in API transformation, modernization, and migration projects. Relevant Google Cloud and AWS certifications. Background in the insurance industry is a plus. Note: Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. Compensation: The annualized base pay range for this position is between $138,000 and $207,000, influenced by market analysis and individual qualifications. The total compensation package includes additional rewards such as bonuses and recognition programs.
