Description Job Overview: As the Vice President of Master Planned Community Operations, you will lead the operational strategy and oversight for FirstService Residential’s portfolio of large-scale, highly amenitized communities across Arizona. These communities often span thousands of homes, significant acreage, and multiple governance structures, requiring a thoughtful and proactive approach to operations, planning, and resident experience. In this role, you will guide a team of senior community leaders while partnering closely with community boards, developers, and internal subject matter experts to ensure operational excellence. You will help communities navigate the unique complexity of master-planned environments, including long-term capital planning, amenity strategy, developer transitions, and community growth phases. This position plays a critical role in shaping the long-term success of these communities by ensuring the right operational structure, staffing models, and service strategies are in place as communities evolve. Compensation: $115,000+ annually, depending on experience FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. Your Responsibilities: Operational Leadership Provide strategic leadership and oversight for a portfolio of master planned communities throughout Arizona Guide and mentor General Managers and senior community leadership teams responsible for large-scale associations Ensure operational consistency and service excellence across communities with complex governance structures, multiple amenity assets, and large resident populations Community Growth and Lifecycle Planning Support communities through various stages of development including pre-launch, early growth, amenity openings, and developer transition Partner with developers and community councils to ensure operational readiness as the community expands Align staffing, vendor strategy, and operational processes with anticipated growth in homes, amenities, and resident demand Financial Oversight Provide leadership and oversight on community financial performance including budgeting, reserve planning, and long-term capital strategy Collaborate with internal accounting teams and community leadership to ensure financial health and transparency Support long-term financial planning related to major infrastructure, amenities, and capital improvements Capital Planning and Asset Management Assist communities in planning and prioritizing capital improvement projects that protect long-term asset value Partner with boards and consultants on reserve planning, asset lifecycle forecasting, and infrastructure investments Support communities in managing large-scale amenity assets such as recreation facilities, lifestyle programming spaces, and open space infrastructure Team Leadership and Development Recruit, develop, and mentor high-performing community leadership teams Support succession planning and leadership development across the Arizona portfolio Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement Risk Management and Compliance Monitor regulatory and legislative developments impacting Arizona associations Guide communities in maintaining compliance with governing documents, policies, and state regulations Identify operational and financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate exposure Cross-Functional Collaboration Partners with internal departments including Client Accounting, Lifestyle, Development Advisory, HR, Marketing, and Technology to support community success Collaborate with the Market President and regional leadership to align operations with company priorities and growth initiatives Business Development Support Support strategic business development efforts involving master planned communities and large-scale associations Participating in industry events, developer conversations, and proposal presentations as needed Meetings and Engagement Attend board meetings, planning sessions, and strategic discussions as needed to support community leadership teams Maintain regular engagement with community leaders and key stakeholders across the state Skills and Qualifications: Leadership: Guiding and inspiring the team Relationship Building: Forming strong connections with clients and associates Communication: Effective verbal and written skills Judgment: Demonstrates sound decision-making and critical thinking Problem-Solving: Finding creative solutions Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Training: Skilled in training and mentoring individuals to enhance their knowledge and capabilities Education and Experience: 10+ years of successful management and supervisory experience A college degree preferred or equivalent experience in Management CMCA (Certified Manager of Community Associations) or PCAM (Professional Community Association Manager) designation preferred Physical Requirements: Most work will be performed in a typical office setting Supervisory Responsibility: Yes Work Location: 9000 E Pima Center Pkwy, Suite 300, Scottsdale, AZ 85258 Service Area: Statewide Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8a – 5p; Evenings and weekends as needed for events and meetings. Travel Requirements: A valid Arizona driver’s license and state-mandated vehicle insurance are required. The ability and willingness to attend occasional evening meetings and events is necessary. Travel to other offices or sites may be required.
