Heavy Civil Estimator Specialist A reputable heavy civil contractor with over 50 years of experience in Ohio is on the lookout for a skilled Civil Estimator to enhance our preconstruction and bidding efforts for vital infrastructure projects. Join a team dedicated to delivering high-quality work to the public infrastructure of Ohio. What You'll Do: Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and general conditions. Work closely with project teams, engineers, vendors, and owners throughout the pre-bid process. Key Scopes of Work: Bridges Earthwork Roadway construction Utilities (waterline, storm, sanitary sewer) Concrete flatwork Concrete structures Deep foundations Key Responsibilities: Thoroughly review drawings, specifications, and proposals to fully grasp project requirements. Conduct precise takeoffs for labor, material, and equipment requirements. Develop detailed cost breakdowns and bid items relevant to the project. Analyze labor rates, production rates, subcontractor quotes, and market conditions. Work collaboratively with subcontractors and suppliers to gather competitive and timely quotes. Identify potential risks associated with projects and provide insights during internal bid reviews. Prepare complete and organized bid packages while supporting the preconstruction planning process. Cultivate strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and internal operations teams. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Mathematics, or a related field. At least 2 years of experience in construction or a related estimating role. Solid understanding of heavy civil construction principles and project sequencing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, HCSS, or HeavyBid software. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
