Provide specialized nursing care in a Cardiac Stepdown unit, delivering compassionate, patient-centered support while adhering to professional and regulatory standards. This opportunity is a contract position based in Cape Girardeau, MO, with flexible weekly hours and a night shift schedule. Location:Located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, this vibrant city is known for its scenic riverfront views and welcoming community atmosphere. Responsibilities: Deliver nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses and care plans tailored to cardiac stepdown patients. Monitor patient conditions, document changes, and communicate effectively with the healthcare team. Administer medications, perform wound care, and provide IV therapy including central line care. Educate patients and families regarding health practices, disease management, and discharge instructions. Maintain compliance with infection control, medication administration, and safety protocols. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. Support a culture of safety and advocate for patient needs. Oversee delegation to assistive personnel as appropriate. Qualifications: Current RN licensure with at least 1 year of experience. ACLS and BLS certifications required. Experience in a cardiac transitional care or stepdown setting preferred. Proficient with EMR systems, preferably EPIC. Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset. Schedule & Details: Night shift: 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts per week. Rotating weekends with a standard expectation of every other weekend worked. Contract duration: 13-26 weeks with guaranteed 36 hours/week (option for 48 hours). Flu vaccination required from November 1 through April 1 (exemptions require approval).
