Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA is hiring a full time MD/DO Nocturnist Hospitalist. We are not able to support J1 or H1B visa for this position, and we are seeking a physician who can start no later than September 2026. Sooner is better. Full time position is 180 shifts annually / 15 shifts per month avg 12 shifts per month Nights 8:00 pm to 8:00 am 3 shifts per month which may vary amongst Day/Night/Weekend/Holiday All of the traditional full time providers share in covering all shifts (rounding, admitting, and nights). Full time providers cover on average 1-2 nights per month, approx 2-3 admitter shifts, and remaining are rounding shifts. This is based on 15 shifts/mo. Rounding shift shared by 5 MD's - typically 90-100 patients per shift 12 hour shifts - Swing is 10a-10p M-F and 9a-9p weekends This is a flexible schedule - NOT 7 on/7off - schedule is worked out by all providers 60-90 days in advance and holidays are scheduled beginning of the year Closed ICU No Procedures Family Medicine Residents run codes, fall assessments and overnight pronouncements EMR is EPIC Hospitalist team includes MD's and APC's working together Open to a new Grad MD/DO - but preference will be given to provider with 2 to 3 years of hospital work experience Individual must be agile and work well within a team unit.
