American Traveler is seeking a travel Occupational Therapist for a travel job in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Occupational Therapist Discipline: Therapy Start Date: 04/06/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Days, 5x8hrs Hours: 40 hrs/wk Start Date: Apr 6, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 2 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist with at least 2 years of experience for a Level I Trauma acute care hospital setting, utilizing Epic EMR. Details Inpatient acute care and rehab unit in a Level I Trauma hospital Average caseload of 4-5 patients per day on a 21-bed unit Patient population includes all ages with orthopedic, neurological, and general medical diagnoses, including medically complex and unstable patients Primary shift is Mon–Fri, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM, with 1–2 weekends per month required (no on-call required) 8-hour shifts on a 13-week contract Epic EMR used for charting and documentation Access to specialized equipment including UE Bioness and Dynavision Requirements Current, active OT license (license required if applicable) Minimum 2 years of occupational therapy experience Current BLS certification required Acute care experience required Two professional references required — one from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one from a peer or supervisor in the same specialty within the last 3 years Skills checklist required for consideration All certifications must be active at time of consideration — no pending certifications accepted Additional Information Responsibilities include evaluations, treatment interventions, team conferences, modalities, FIM scoring, and documentation Must be able to manage a high-volume, fast-paced caseload with frequent rescheduling and prioritization across multiple areas of the hospital Knowledge of normal/abnormal vital signs, contraindications, and medical equipment monitoring is essential in this environment Expected to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team for discharge planning, patient safety, and hand-off communication May be asked to supervise OTAs, aides, and students as part of regular duties Orientation includes 1–2 days of computer documentation training and department-specific training over several days Dress code is business casual or polo (ceil blue, khaki, gray, or chocolate brown) — no jeans Local candidates within 80 miles of the facility are welcome to apply Candidates with previous employment at any location within this health system must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date All staff are required to badge in and out at the facility American Traveler Job ID P-681125.
