Position Overview: As a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nurse at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, you will play a crucial role in both pre- and post-operative patient care. Your responsibilities will include: Preparing patients for surgery by initiating IVs, administering medications, and providing essential patient education. Recovering patients from anesthesia post-operatively and managing their ongoing care according to best-practice guidelines set by The American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN). Caring for a diverse group of surgical patients, including those undergoing general surgery, robotics, urology, gynecology, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery, thoracic, colorectal surgery, and trauma. Managing higher-acuity vascular surgery patients. This is a busy PACU with 10 beds, providing 24/7 coverage, and may require some on-call duties. We typically maintain a nurse/patient ratio of 2:1. While ICU experience is preferred, we are open to considering candidates with ED, step-down, and floor-level experience on a case-by-case basis. ACLS certification is mandatory for external candidates.
