Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Occupational Therapist Discipline: Therapy Start Date: 03/16/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 10 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist with acute care experience for a 13-week inpatient assignment at an acute care hospital, working 4x10-hour day shifts per week. Responsibilities Acute inpatient hospital setting within an Occupational Therapy department Covers all acute care adult populations except ICU; travelers with strong ICU experience may be asked to cover ICU as well Common diagnoses include neurological conditions (CVA, MS, Parkinson's, Guillain-Barré), general medical, orthopedic (total joints and fractures), cardiac (pacers), and oncology Caseload of approximately 8-10 patients per day with 5-7 therapists on the floor per day Day shift schedule: 4x10-hour shifts per week, 7:30 AM-6:00 PM Weekend requirement is approximately 40% of weekend days, typically every other full weekend No self-scheduling; schedule is built on an 8-week rotation with reasonable accommodation of requests EMR is Epic No COTAs on unit; 2 Rehab Aides support the team Responsibilities include evaluating and treating adult acute care patients, providing discharge recommendations, and communicating safe mobility plans to the interdisciplinary team Onboarding consists of at least 2 days with an experienced OT preceptor; during the first week, travelers should plan on working Monday-Friday on 8-hour shifts to accommodate the onboarding schedule OT Manager is present on each shift Travelers are not typically required to work holidays but may be asked to if there is a clinical need Any color scrubs or business casual attire is acceptable First-time travelers are welcome to apply Former permanent employees of this facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered for a travel assignment No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accepted Requirements Current, active OT license required; license must be active at time of consideration (license required if applicable) Minimum 2 years of experience as a licensed OT, with at least 1 year specifically in acute care (acute rehab experience alone may not be considered sufficient) Current BLS certification required Driver's license required 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-676296.
