Scope reprocessing experience. Description: The registered nurse will work in an endoscopy unit. The unit performs outpatient and inpatient procedures including colonoscopy, EGD, bronchoscopy, and PEG tube placements. The role includes scope room duties and assisting as a tech during procedures. There are three procedure rooms, with one to two rooms run each day. One room is designated for bronchoscopy and intubation. The department is small and close-knit, working collaboratively with anesthesia providers and physicians. Some days will be very busy, while others will be more relaxed. The unit utilizes Olympus scopes, Boston Scientific instruments, and Steris scope cabinets. The documentation system in use is Meditech Expanse. Scrubs will be provided after an order is placed; in the meantime, personal scrubs may be worn. No call is required, with scheduling typically Monday through Friday. Floating to assist in other areas is rare.
