Med-Surg Nurse (RN) - Gastonia, NC

Deliver exceptional patient care as a Med-Surg/Telemetry Registered Nurse supporting a dynamic Acute Diagnosis and Treatment Unit (ADTU) and satellite medical-surgical units at a leading Level I trauma and teaching hospital. This contract opportunity is based in Gastonia, NC, offering your expertise to help decompress the Emergency Department and specialty areas by caring for adult and geriatric patients presenting with a wide range of diagnoses including COPD, CHF exacerbation, pneumonia, stroke, and other complex conditions. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of Med-Surg/Telemetry RN experience. Critical skills include cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, chest tube and drain management, IV starts, and vigilant medication drip management, including cardiac drips and blood products. Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required. You will function collaboratively alongside a multidisciplinary team including resource nurses, charge nurses, CNAs, respiratory therapists, and hospitalists, leveraging Epic EMR and advanced monitoring technology to deliver top-quality care. Key Qualifications: Minimum 2 years Med-Surg/Telemetry RN experience preferred Valid BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications Proficiency in stroke care and telemetry monitoring Strong skills in trach care, PIV starts, chest tube and drain management Experience with medication drips such as cardiac drips and heparin Ability to float within the designated regional facilities and flexible scheduling Responsibilities: Manage complex patient care on ADTU and satellite med-surg/tele units Perform telemetry interpretation each shift and respond to patient needs Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members in a fast-paced environment Adhere to facility protocols in a trauma and teaching hospital setting Provide compassionate care for acute adult and geriatric patients Work Schedule & Environment: 12-hour shifts: 7a-7p or 7p-7a Weekend rotation every other week, no on-call duties Holiday coverage approximately 75% of holidays Free parking and navy blue scrubs provided Location Highlights - Gastonia, NC: Gastonia offers a welcoming community rich in southern charm and outdoor recreation.
