Medical-Surgical RN in Taylorville, IL

This opportunity offers a specialized role in medical-surgical nursing within an acute care hospital recognized as a Level II Trauma center. It requires a committed and skilled RN with a minimum of two years of medical-surgical experience to work primarily night shifts in a structured 3x12 or 4x12 schedule. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Active Illinois RN license or currently in the application process with an ETA to apply Minimum of 2 years' medical-surgical nursing experience; no first-timers accepted Current BLS certification required Proficient in telemetry remote monitoring and emergency response protocols, including use of Rapid Response Teams Skilled in gastrointestinal care such as colostomy and feeding tube management Experience with genitourinary/renal care including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure Competent in IV therapy and phlebotomy, including accessing ports, PICC line management, and starting IVs Knowledgeable in medication administration: heparin, insulin, PCA Respiratory care experience with CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, and tracheostomy care Strong understanding of isolation precautions and wound care, including Wound Vac Familiarity with Cerner electronic health records Responsibilities: Provide skilled nursing care for an average daily census of 35 medical-surgical patients Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care Float within department scope as needed, demonstrating flexibility Adhere to protocol for cardiac monitoring, emergency responses, and specialized case management Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner Schedule and Work Environment: Night shift options of 3x12 or 4x12 hours (18:00-06:30), working every other weekend Contract position with guaranteed hours but subject to some call-offs as outlined Parking permit required, provided at no cost Dress code includes blue, black, or gray scrubs Location Insight: Taylorville, Illinois offers a welcoming community environment with a balance of small-town charm and access to healthcare advancements.
