Job Description

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region, providing compassionate and direct patient care under the guidance of licensed nursing professionals. This role is essential in supporting patient safety and comfort within a behavioral health setting. General Summary Under the supervision of an RN, LPN, or shift manager, the Patient Care Assistant delivers hands-on care to patients, ensuring their well-being and safety throughout their stay. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and timely communication of patient condition changes to licensed nurses. Perform basic care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and encouraging patient activity. Collaborate closely with nursing staff to meet patient needs promptly, enhancing overall patient experience and safety. Accurately document all care activities to support clinical decision-making and effective communication among healthcare team members. Communicate relevant patient information to appropriate team members to improve outcomes and quality of care. Education High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience At least one year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred. Certification and Training Those without certification or with less than one year of experience must complete a specialized Patient Care Assistant training academy. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided. Mental and Physical Requirements This role requires significant mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as turning, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching. Working Conditions Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. The position may occasionally involve interaction with hostile individuals.
