They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. The RN practices in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and supported through a shared governance model. This role is steered by a professional practice model with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and research. As a member of the patient services team, the RN upholds the voice of the patient and system policies while supporting service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The RN performs the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation. They use analytical and critical thinking to ensure care is individualized and coordinate care through effective partnerships. The RN provides relationship-based, patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. They partner with patients and significant others, updating them and making patient goals the focus of the care plan. The RN practices using current clinical practice standards. Teamwork and Collaboration: The RN coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care. This includes diverse interdisciplinary communication methods and completing timely documentation. They promote a respectful and inclusive clinical environment. The RN demonstrates teamwork by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner. They participate and support performance improvement, research, and activities that promote safe, quality patient care. Professional Development and Initiative: The RN completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required education. They serve as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses to ensure a qualified workforce. The RN models professional nursing practice and contributes to a healthy work environment. Evidence-Based Practice and Research: The RN promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement. They participate in data collection and consult appropriate resources to address clinical questions. The RN upholds all healthcare system policies and standards, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements. Resources and Support: The RN proactively plans for patient care across the care continuum. They participate in developing protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and healthcare team members. The RN supports efficient and effective use of human and material resources.
