Surgery - Vascular Physician Assistant

Vascular Physician Assistant Position Summary The Vascular Physician Assistant (PA) provides advanced clinical care to patients with vascular disease across inpatient, outpatient, and procedural settings. Working collaboratively with vascular surgeons and the multidisciplinary care team, the PA evaluates patients, assists in vascular procedures, manages perioperative care, and supports continuity of care for patients with arterial and venous conditions. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including histories and physical examinations Evaluate and manage patients with arterial, venous, and lymphatic disorders Assist in the operating room and procedural suite, including first-assist duties as appropriate Manage preoperative and postoperative vascular surgery patients Conduct daily inpatient rounds and coordinate care plans Order, interpret, and document diagnostic tests, imaging, and laboratory studies Perform bedside procedures within scope of practice (e.g., line placement, wound care, drain management) Manage anticoagulation therapy and vascular medications under physician supervision Monitor patients for post-procedural complications and intervene as appropriate Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, recovery, and long-term disease management Coordinate care with wound care, podiatry, interventional radiology, and other specialties Ensure accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and departmental initiatives Clinical Areas May Include Peripheral arterial disease Carotid artery disease Aortic aneurysm and dissection management Dialysis access creation and maintenance Venous insufficiency and thromboembolic disease Schedule Day shift with variable hours May include call, evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on service needs Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program Current national certification as a Physician Assistant Active or eligible state licensure BLS certification required; ACLS preferred Prior vascular surgery, general surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, or critical care experience preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong clinical assessment and procedural skills Knowledge of vascular disease processes and postoperative management Ability to function effectively in fast-paced surgical environments Excellent communication and teamwork skills Strong organizational and documentation abilities Work Environment Operating room, inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and procedural areas Requires standing, walking, lifting, and manual dexterity Exposure to high-acuity surgical patients and procedural environments by Jobble
