As an Assistant Patient Care Technician, you will work under the guidance of licensed nurses to provide essential direct patient care that supports safety and comfort. Key Responsibilities Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and timely communication of patient condition changes. Perform basic patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility activities. Collaborate closely with nursing staff to meet patient needs promptly and enhance their overall experience. Accurately document all patient care activities to support clinical decision-making and team communication. Effectively communicate relevant patient information to healthcare team members to improve outcomes and quality of care. Education A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience At least one year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred. Certification and Training If uncertified or with less than one year of experience, candidates must complete a specialized Patient Care Assistant training program. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided. Physical and Mental Requirements This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, bending, and other movements throughout the shift. Working Environment Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases is possible, along with occasional interactions with challenging individuals.
