Job Summary:We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical and inquisitive with good communication skills and ability to multi-task well. This role will contribute to all aspects of the billing and collections process to ensure timely claims submission and optimized reimbursement. This position must work in the office. This is not a remote position.Job Duties include, but are not limited to:Prepare and submit clean claims for provider charges to various insurance companies electronicallyReview physician chart notes for accuracy with the charges being billedCall insurance companies on old claims that have not yet been paidAnswer questions from patients and insurance companies about patient billsIdentify and resolve patient billing complaintsPerform various collection actions including contacting patients by phone; correct and resubmit claims to third-party payersProcess payments from insurance companies and prepare a daily depositEnter demographic and insurance informationMaintain strict confidentiality; adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulationsOther duties as assignedRequirements and Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or GEDExperience:Minimum 1-3 years experience in medical billing preferredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of medical billing / collection practicesKnowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practicesCertified Professional Coder (CPC/CPC-A) or Certified Professional Biller (CPB) preferredDemonstrated work experience with Microsoft Word / Excel or Google Docs / Sheets requiredMust be detail oriented, reliable, a team player, and must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.Ability to operate a computer, computer software, and basic office equipmentExcellent customer service skills, skill in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful mannerStrong mathematical skillsStrong analytical and critical thinking skillsAbility to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructionsMust be able to work in our Novato office (wearing a mask as needed). Salary range:In accordance with California law, the expected hourly range for this California position is between $24 and $27 per hour.
