Unit Notes REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION: - Last four (4) digits of clinician's SSN - Clinician's middle initial - Requested time off - Active IL license or confirmation that application process has been initiated - Your candidate understands is a Drug-Free Campus and they must produce a negative drug screen for all panels Department: MICU RN - # Beds: 12 beds, max census of 11; 1 bed is reserved for inpatient dialysis, a contracted service - Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:2-3, occasionally house IMU patients - Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: CHF, COPD, Sepsis, MI, DKA, COVID, vented patients - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Common ICU drips - paralytics, sedatives, cardizem, amio, etc. - Is there a Charge Nurse &/or House Supervisor on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Charge nurse 24/7 that do take a patient assignment. Administrative (House) Supervisor on-site 24/7 - Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios?: No, this a primary care unit - Hospitalist &/or Intensivist in house 24/7? In the ICU 24/7?: Hospitalist is in-house 22/7; there is a gap between 5A & 7A where hospitalist is on-call. ERP is available 24/7; Intensivist is in-house a couple hours a day, but available by phone 24/7. - RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: All are seen in the ICU - RT manages equipment - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Monitor tech is present in the hospital - watches ICU & tele patients in-house. Cardiac rhythm interpretation is preferred. - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 12Hr shifts - 630a-7p, 630p-7a. Block scheduling is accommodated when requested - Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend - Days: Saturday/Sunday; Nights: Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday. - Holiday Requirements: Every other holiday. - Is there a call or standby requirement?: No - Floating Requirements: ICU Travel Nurses will not float to additional departments in house. - Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy blue - not provided - Unit/Department specific orientation: 1st 3 days are orientation - Day 1 is online modules & general facility orientation; Day 2 & 3 will be on the floor with a nurse VivPost
