The Secretary of State's Information Technology Division is seeking a Business Technology Specialist 1. This position focuses on translating the business needs of the agency that support its mission and objectives into technical solutions. Minimum Qualifications Six years of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR An associate's degree in information technology plus four years of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field plus three years of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR A master's degree plus three years of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. NOTE: A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Developing and executing software test plans beyond the standard cases in order to identify hidden software defects and their causes Utilizing project, issue/bug, and quality assurance management tools Using source control management tools Turning bug stories into detailed backlog items with acceptance criteria Creating and executing automated test scripts to simulate user load and measure system behavior under stress Developing and executing automated scripts to reduce manual testing effort for repetitive tasks like regression Application Programming Interface (API), and User Interface (UI) testing Performing web browser/mobile device compatibility testing on Windows and Macintosh operating systems, Chrome, Edge, and Safari browsers, Microsoft, Apple and Android tablets, and Apple and Android smartphones Writing database management system queries for back-end data validation testing Working within a scrum agile project management framework Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional Division: Information Technology/ One (1) vacancy Location: Secretary of State, Essen Lane, Baton Rouge, LA How To Apply: No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.
