Maintenance Crew Member

Job Summary The Maintenance Crew Member / Gardener is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to maintain and enhance the appearance of landscapes. This role involves working outdoors, using various tools and equipment to ensure that gardens, lawns, and other landscaped areas are healthy and visually appealing. Must have a positive can-do work ethic, be an eager learner, be conscious of safety requirements, work effectively as a team member, dress appropriately, and be punctual. Responsibilities and Duties Perform routine maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, pruning, and weeding.Plant and care for flowers, shrubs, trees, and lawns.Operate and maintain landscaping equipment and tools.Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other treatments to plants and lawns.Assist in landscape installations and renovations.Ensure all work is completed to company standards and client satisfaction.Follow safety procedures and guidelines.Mow and edge lawns using power mowers and edgers.Trim and prune trees, shrubs, and hedges to maintain shape and health.Weed and mulch landscape beds.Plant and transplant flowers, shrubs, and trees.Water plants and lawns as needed.Clean and maintain tools and equipment.Assist with the installation of irrigation systems and other landscape features.Thoroughly understands and complies with company policy and safety manualProperly and safely operates hand tools: hand pruners, pole pruners, hoes, shovels, rakes, hedge shears, wheelbarrow, etc.Properly and safely operates power equipment: push mower, leaf blower, backpack blower, stick trimmers, etc.Properly prune trees, vines, and shrubsStake trees and shrubsSharpen cutting toolsLoad and unload trucks safelyPerform fertilizer application techniquesWorks safely and reports any / all unsafe conditions to the foreman and/or supervisors Reports to work on time Follows all instructions from supervisor(s) promptly and efficiently Is a willing learner who seeks to master the basic skills of a maintenance worker Reports to work in a clean and appropriate uniform wearing the appropriate boots Able to communicate with supervisor in a timely and thorough manner Completes assigned tasks efficiently, thoroughly, and per company production rates Continuing education requirement of 5 hours per year Other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.Valid driver's license.Certification in horticulture or landscaping is a plus. Documentation to verify employment eligibility Physically able to handle the workload of a Maintenance laborer and have a full range of mobility in the upper and lower body Able to lift 50 pounds without assistance Reliable transportation to/from work Experience Previous experience in landscaping or gardening is preferred.Familiarity with landscaping equipment and tools.Experience with plant care and maintenance. Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of plant species and their care requirements.Ability to operate and maintain landscaping equipment.Strong attention to detail and a good eye for aesthetics.Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
