Power BI Solution Architect

Job Title: BI Solution Architect Location: Santa Clara, CA (Onsite - 4 to 5 days per week mandatory) Duration: 6 Months Type: Contract / FTE Role Overview We are looking for a highly experienced BI Solution Architect to lead the design, governance, and optimization of enterprise-grade Business Intelligence solutions. The ideal candidate will define the BI architecture roadmap, drive Microsoft Fabric capacity planning, enable AI-driven analytics capabilities, and deliver scalable, high-performance reporting solutions aligned with business strategy. This role requires deep Power BI expertise, strong architectural leadership, and experience aligning analytics platforms with modern AI and data transformation initiatives. Key Responsibilities 1. BI Architecture & Strategy Define and execute the enterprise BI architecture vision and roadmap. Architect scalable solutions using Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Power Automate, and Power Apps. Establish governance frameworks, standards, and best practices for enterprise BI delivery. Drive enterprise-level BI transformation initiatives. 2. Microsoft Fabric & Capacity Planning Lead Microsoft Fabric capacity planning and workload management. Implement cost optimization strategies. Monitor and optimize Fabric environments for performance, scalability, and reliability. Design enterprise-grade semantic models aligned with performance standards. 3. Data Modeling & Analytics Design Design robust dimensional data models (Star and Snowflake schema). Develop advanced DAX calculations and Power Query transformations. Build scalable and reusable semantic layer architecture. Ensure best practices for dataset design and modeling standards. 4. AI & Modern Analytics Enablement Demonstrate awareness of AI-driven BI capabilities such as: Copilot AI-powered insights Predictive analytics integration Automation use cases Guide adoption of AI-enabled reporting and intelligent analytics within the BI ecosystem. 5. Performance Optimization Optimize datasets, dashboards, and reports for enterprise-scale usage. Implement data refresh strategies and query optimization techniques. Perform dataset tuning and performance monitoring. 6. Security & Governance Implement enterprise-grade security including Row-Level Security (RLS). Establish access control frameworks. Ensure compliance with data governance and organizational policies. 7. Stakeholder Leadership & Delivery Partner with business stakeholders, data engineering teams, and executives. Translate business requirements into scalable BI solutions. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to BI developers and analysts. Drive delivery accountability and architectural oversight. Required Qualifications 12-15 years of overall experience. 6-7+ years of strong experience in BI architecture roles. Deep hands-on expertise in: Power BI (Development & Administration) Microsoft Fabric Advanced Data Modeling DAX & Power Query Strong experience in enterprise BI governance and security frameworks. Experience integrating BI platforms with: SQL databases Cloud data sources APIs Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Preferred (Nice to Have) Experience with AI-enabled analytics platforms. Exposure to enterprise cloud environments (Azure preferred). Experience working with executive leadership and large-scale BI transformation initiatives.
