Overview The Quality Manager-Nitinol manages the processes and activities within the areas of quality systems, communications and interactions about customer quality, and process controls and improvements. They will establish quality metrics to evaluate the progress of goals to construct and maintain superior systems and processes to accomplish the desired company and customer objectives. Education & Experience Requirements Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience. American Society for Quality (ASQ), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Technician (CQT), and Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification preferred. Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment including experience in quality control and assurance. Conducting or preparing for ISO quality system audits. Job Responsibilities Monitor the performance of the assigned Quality staff, promote personal development among staff, and provide guidance on performing individual tasks. Evaluate performance and provide feedback allowing for continual growth of the individuals. Serve as the primary resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting, continuous improvement, and customer/regulatory quality. Ensure compliance to International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and customer quality requirements and standards. Support the coexisting engineering efforts through participation in design development projects. Apply necessary quality strategies and rally internal support from departments within the company to successful implement strategies. Successfully utilize Six Sigma and Lean tools. Perform root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities that will identify effective corrective actions and process improvements. Act as a company representative for current and prospective customers as well as regulation entities concerning communications on Fort Wayne Metals' quality systems and processes. Interact with customers to resolve quality issues, identify opportunities to improve quality, report quality metrics, and change management initiatives. Establish collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality. Report to the Director of Quality on quality issues, trends, and findings. Manage the internal audit system; facilitate implementation of new quality system requirements. Ensure the company structure aids in the development and maintenance of quality promoting activities. Stay current on newly developed quality methodologies within the manufacturing industry. Maintain positive employee relations and climate. Support manufacturing floor and personnel. Perform other duties as requested by management Skills Needed Excellent oral and written communication skills. Effective leadership and delegation skills. Ability to analyze issues and resolve problems effectively. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Fast-paced office environment. Travel approximately 10%-20% of the time. Must be able to travel between various facilities. Must be able to access all areas of operation, including second floors. Occasional lifting, up to 50 pounds. Some time is spent standing, walking, lifting, and bending. Maneuver around, under, and about factory/laboratory equipment on a regular and continuous basis.
