Description Home Search Jobs Job Description Microservices Service Mesh Engineer Contract: Jacksonville, Florida, US Salary Range: 65.00 - 70.00 | Per Hour Job Code: 368020 End Date: 2026-04-08 Days Left: 29 days, 4 hours left Apply Job Title: Microservices Service Mesh Engineer Location: Jacksonville, FL Work Arrangement: Hybrid Client Industry: Banking Duration:12-18 Months (Possibility of Full-Time Conversion) About the Role: We are seeking a Microservices Service Mesh Engineer to design and implement a secure, scalable service mesh architecture for enterprise applications. This role will focus on transitioning existing service-based applications into a HashiCorp Consul service mesh environment. The current platform is built using Python (FastAPI/Flask) and runs on Linux servers within a VMware virtualized infrastructure. The ideal candidate will help modernize the system architecture, enabling secure communication, improved reliability, and streamlined service deployment across microservices. Key Responsibilities: Analyze existing application services and ensure they meet microservices architecture requirements Design and implement a Service Mesh using HashiCorp Consul to provide secure, resilient, and scalable service communication Work with development teams to integrate existing services into the service mesh Support implementation of secure service communication and authentication mechanisms Assist development teams with account vaulting and secure credential management Contribute to story refinement, requirements definition, and solution design Provide technical estimates and roadmap planning for solution delivery Develop proofs of concept to validate new architectural solutions Write and maintain code and unit tests to meet defined acceptance criteria Troubleshoot technical issues and resolve them in a structured and efficient manner Develop and maintain test suites including integration, regression, and performance testing Analyze test reports, identify issues, and perform root cause analysis Document system architecture, deployment processes, and operational procedures Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams Provide guidance and mentorship to team members when needed What We're Looking For: 2+ years of experience with HashiCorp tools, particularly Consul 1+ year of experience working with Service Mesh architectures Experience with Python scripting for REST/JSON applications using Flask or FastAPI Experience working in Agile development environments Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and Jenkins Experience working in large enterprise environments Strong experience working with Linux-based systems Experience building or implementing HashiCorp platforms Experience onboarding applications into HashiCorp Consul Familiarity with OAuth authentication and authorization protocols Experience working with microservices-based architectures Exposure to modern infrastructure and application deployment practices Python (FastAPI / Flask) HashiCorp Consul (Service Mesh) Linux Servers VMware Virtualization Jenkins CI/CD REST / JSON APIs Agile / TDD development practices Compensation: Hourly Rate: $65 - $70 per hour This range reflects base compensation and may vary based on location, market conditions, experience, and candidate qualifications.
