The Dean supports the Division's academic/technical functions designed to facilitate cohesive college-wide services within a blended and online educational environment. This position oversees and manages career and technical instructional projects designed to enhance the quality of programs and services. The Dean conducts performance management reports and provide collaboration for technical instructional services as directed by the President. For any questions or additional information, please contact the Human Resources Department at Essential Duties and Responsibilities At a minimum, the essential functions of this position shall include: Supervises career and technical instructors and instructional support staff. Assists in orienting new staff and instructors to the College's rules, regulations, policies and procedures; and implements plans to evaluate instructors and staff under their supervision. Coordinates the career and technical instructional program for all credit courses of the entire college (i.e., day, night, extended for all campuses and centers). Coordinates the development of new programs and curricula as required. Assists in developing and approving class schedules. Monitors all educational programs and services to ensure that they are conducted in accordance with relevant accreditation programs and standards. Coordinates the periodic review of programs, curricula, and evaluation of career and technical personnel. Ensures that instructors have opportunities to master and use emerging instructional technologies in the classroom within the parameters of available funds. Recommends committee assignments of instructors and instructional support personnel. Reviews and approves adjunct and substitute instructor credentials. Approves syllabi for all courses. Coordinates programs of in-service education for all personnel and adjuncts. Reviews all travel requests from career and technical instructional personnel for approval. Develops, updates, and edits technical program related information for publication the College's catalog. Assists the Chief Financial Officer with the development of the technical instructional budget and annual equipment purchase plan. Reviews all career and technical instructor requisitions for supplies and equipment. Works with the Dean - Academic Instruction to create the final examination schedules. Works with the Dean - Academic Instruction to create the annual academic calendar. Assists in planning facility needs and requirements as they pertain to the instructional program. Conducts such studies and reports as shall be requested President or the Alabama Community College System. Oversees the College's annual Perkins report and annual budget. Works with the Dean - Academic Instruction to assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Institutional Effectiveness Plan. Works with the Dean - Academic Instruction to coordinate class schedules and assign teaching responsibilities with appropriate Division/Department Chairs. Assists in student recruitment and retention of students. Works closely with the College officials on the development and administration of annual budgets for approval by the President. Addresses career and technical student and/or personnel issues of complaints or grievances. Coordinates and implements Institutional Effectiveness reports on behalf of the College as necessary. Provides oversight and leadership in the career and technical high school dual enrollment and accelerated programs. Reviews career and technical instructor workloads. Researches and stays current with technology and instructional technologies. Works with the Dean - Academic Instruction to coordinate instructor/student surveys. Qualifications Required Qualifications Master's degree a related field from a regionally accredited institution. Five years of current related work experience. Three years of supervisory experience in one or more of the essential functions of the position. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work well with others and work under pressure. Preferred Qualifications Two or more years of higher education administrative leadership experience. Three years full-time teaching experience in a career and technical teaching area or field of study at the postsecondary level.
