Responsibilities The RN Total Joint Coordinator (TJC) will oversee the entire process of Total Joint care, from scheduling through discharge. The coordinator will work closely with the orthopedic offices as well as sales representatives, work with patients through preoperative testing, and help with DME for discharge home use. ESSENTIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Job Knowledge Assesses, plans, evaluates, and ensures the implementation of the total joint program. Participates in all meetings related to the Total Joint Program Owns the Total Joint Pre-Admission Patient Handbook and Bootcamp Class Trains current and new teammates in the Pre/Post area on what is included in the Pre-Admission class and handbook and assures that a current copy of the handbook is available in all Pre and Post-Op departments Takes action to contact patient shortly after patient is scheduled to begin the collecting of all required documentation and to schedule the Total Joint Bootcamp Class Ensures that the Total Joint patient and their Coach have read the Pre-Admission Patient Handbook and have attended the Total Joint Bootcamp Class and that this is documented in the patient record Ensures that all required and appropriate information is collected and added to the Total Joint patient record Works closely with Physician offices and Medical Director in determining appropriate Total Joint Patient selection for the ASC setting When assessing patient appropriateness for the ASC setting, refers to all Total Joint program tools and patient chart documents, including, but not limited to: Total Joint Patient Selection Criteria, Clinic Hand-off Tools, Patient self-documentation of medical history, History and Physical, labs and other testing, and any consults or follow-up referrals Monitors the schedule for time changes and communicates them appropriately to patients Ensures provision of patient care in an organized and timely manner Adheres to all surgery center policies and procedures when providing patient care Collaborates with Leadership Team providing constructive input on any proposed process changes to the Total Joint Program Utilizes nursing care standards when planning and implementing patient care Demonstrates ability to direct and provide for patient care in emergency situations Participates in performance improvement projects related to the Total Joint program Assesses learning needs according to staff's level of understanding and readiness to learn Communicates with the team effectively so that each team member has the knowledge necessary to perform their job, and to ensure smooth coverage when out Interfaces effectively with surgeons and their offices Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for position. ProductivityUtilizes time effectively. Completes all documentation to ensure the availability of accurate and up to date information in accordance with established standards. Adheres to established surgery center safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Demonstrates the competent usage of proper body mechanics in all activities. Identifies potentially unsafe conditions and notifies manager. Completes all employee/patient incident documentation in a thorough and timely manner, as required by facility policy. Practices infection control and standard precautions as instructed or trained. Demonstrates complete understanding of established emergency procedures for department and surgery center. Participates in the orientation of nursing staff for the total joint program. Performs all other duties as assigned by manager. ProfessionalismMaintains and evaluates own clinical expertise and surgery center clinical practice. Participates in a yearly self evaluation Attends 75% of unit-based staff meetings or demonstrates review of minutes for all staff meetings. Demonstrates the importance of continuing education to the performance of facility responsibilities and growth in profession. Maintains and displays appropriate knowledge of professional developments through printed material or other sources Attends professional training seminars when appropriate for job development and shares information with other staff members Attends and participates in all applicable surgery center training and development workshops scheduled by the facility Shares current CEs related to Total Joints with Nurse manager and DON to determine what will be assigned annually to teammates for Total Joint training Maintains dress and appearance according to standards as observed by management. Regularly maintains work area, equipment, and supplies in a pristine manner. ComplianceAdheres to SCA Health's Standards of Business Conduct. Demonstrates the safe operation of equipment and machinery and follows procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation. Attends 100% of required safety training, or reviews make-up materials within 2 weeks. Service SatisfactionCommunicates patient information to assure confidentiality and continuity of care. Documents all patient information according to established standards of care, policies, and procedures Provides a report to oncoming personnel that is accurate, concise, and pertinent to the patient's condition and response to care Provides pertinent patient information to the physician, family, and other members of the multidisciplinary team Discuss patient information with other health team members in an appropriate environment Document patient's/significant other's response to teaching interventions Interacts with all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees in a mature, responsible manner to ensure a positive and professional surgery center environment. Displays a caring and responsive attitude and conducts all activities respecting patient, family and employee rights and expectations Maintains confidentiality of all facility and patient information as required by facility policy Fosters a positive and professional surgery center environment by interacting with all persons in a considerate, helpful, and courteous manner and by participating as a team member Diffuses/resolves conflict by appropriately communicating with those involved Accepts constructive criticism and gives suggestions in a professional manner Considers age specific, cultural, and/or psychosocial needs when communicating with patients and others QualificationsLicenses or Certifications: Current RN licensure to practice in the state of Oregon. Successful completion of AHA- BLS, AHA approved ACLS (ACLS must be obtained within 3 months of hire if not currently certified). Education, vocational training, and experience: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing. Minimum of one year of nursing experience caring for Total Joint patients. Experience in a medical/surgical setting in a hospital setting strongly preferred. USD $24.00/Hr. USD $32.00/Hr.
