Akkodis is seeking a Platform Architect for a Contract with a client in Hartford, CT. The ideal candidate requires deep expertise in COBOLbased mainframe systems and modern Java architecture to lead successful transformation initiatives. Rate Range: $45/hour to $56/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. Platform Architect job responsibilities include: Define modernization architecture, including target-state designs, migration patterns, and Java/Spring Boot reference architectures. Analyze legacy COBOL, JCL, CICS/IMS, DB2, and VSAM components to develop decomposition strategies and modernization mappings. Lead execution of modernization waves, oversee API-first and microservices design decisions, and ensure coexistence between mainframe and modernized systems. Direct data migration, transformation, and validation activities to support a seamless transition from legacy to modern platforms. Provide technical leadership by reviewing converted Java code, establishing coding standards, and guiding teams across architecture, DevSecOps, and cloud decisions. Ensure system performance, security, and reliability through capacity planning, resiliency design, and compliance enforcement. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related engineering field. 10+ years of experience in mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, IMS) and 5+ years in Java/Spring Boot architecture and microservices. Hands-on experience leading mainframe modernization programs, including refactoring, replatforming, and automated code conversion. Strong expertise in eventdriven architecture (Kafka/MQ), REST API standards, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). If you are interested in this role, then please click APPLY NOW.
