Job Description

OBJECTIVE / PURPOSE Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods such as raw materials, living materials, equipment, parts, and supplies for the Live Biology group. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS Maintains item records in JD Edwards software Reviews information from JD Edwards software to place purchase orders, maintain stock, and help department managers control inventory Reviews requisitions. Confers with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule Prepares purchase orders, work orders, etc. Maintains procurement records such as items purchased, cost, and delivery Coordinates cycle counts and maintains inventory control for living and non-living materials Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with quality control personnel, users, and suppliers and others to determine source of problems Acquires quotes from various suppliers to obtain lowest prices and best quality of material Keeps accurate records for Medicinal Leech business as directed by managers, EHS, and FDA standards and requirements. Assists managers with controlling expenses and searching for cost savings. Interacts with department managers and staff regarding status of shipments, back-orders, shortages, breakages, etc. Establishes new supplier accounts in system Works with accounting to ensure correct invoices and charges to departments Participates in picking up local supplies weekly for departmental needs and/or inventory for orders Assist with other department duties as needed in effort to fulfill orders for products sold to the educational market The Live Biology Group has seasonal variations in labor needs. As a result, employees are expected to help in other areas as needed. Live Biology is a living materials, laboratory, and manufacturing facility. Employees may be asked to help in packing areas, work with living materials, do outside field or collecting work, and help in various laboratory work areas. Training and PPE will be provided as needed. Some evening, holiday, and weekend work will be required as needed, including organism care, field work, and on-call for medicinal leeches. POSITION REQUIREMENTSEducation: High School Diploma or GED. Associate's Degree in Business is helpful. Experience: 2 - 3 years' experience in Office/Administrative Support required. Strong Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required. Purchasing experience preferred. Strong computer skills required. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred. Specialized Training/Skills: Valid Driver's License required.
