We have two internships this summer. Under the immediate supervision of the GIS Administrator, this position is responsible for performing geographic information systems (GIS) mapping and field data collection of City of Hilliard-owned assets, including the HiFiO fiber optic network and utility assets, and analysis, working as part of a group or alone. The intern will gain hands-on experience with data collection tools such as GNSS devices, utility locating equipment, and drones and build geospatial skills. This internship is oriented towards higher education students pursuing a degree in GIS or a related field. Essential Functions of Work Field data collection of assets listedbelowusing ArcGIS Field Maps, GNSS devices, andutility location devices UseArcGIS Pro to mapcity-owned properties andeasements, andselect assetsincluding but not limited tounderground utility structures such asfiber optics,electric, water, sanitary sewer, stormsewer,street signs, trees,park amenities,andtraffic signals Research easement maps and documentation Convert PDF plans and georeferenced in ArcGIS Pro Use ArcGIS Pro for data entry of attributes for features listed above Create web maps and applications using ArcGIS Portal, Experience Builder, and StoryMaps Scan archival materials to PDF Typical Qualifications This internship is oriented towards higher education students pursuing a degree in GIS or a related field. Intermediate knowledge of GIS fundamentals Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro including Arcade expressions Knowledge of ArcGIS Online including ArcGIS Experience Builder and StoryMaps Knowledge of georeferencing scanned and digital maps Must be 16 years of age at the time of appointment Possess a valid driver's license Must have experience operating a smartphone, tablet, and computer for data entry, navigation, and photo documentation of sites Must have experience using the Windows operating system Supplemental Information Ability to demonstrate dexterity in the use of hands and feet Ability to lift 25 lbs. from one location to another Ability to dig, bend, lift, walk, see, speak, and drive a motor vehicle for an entire shift if necessary Ability to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing based upon the job requirements of the day Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions RETIREMENT PENSION The City contributes 14% monthly toward retirement benefits offered through the Ohio Retirement System (OPERS) and the employee contributes 10%.
