The Volunteer Engagement Manager champions our volunteer program creating an environment where people feel valued while contributing their time and talents to our animals. This full-time position requires a dynamic individual who brings fresh ideas to elevate the volunteer experience with warmth and confidence from day one. This is not an entry-level volunteer coordination role. It's a strategic leadership position responsible for shaping the future of volunteer engagement across a complex, multi-program animal welfare organization. What you'll do Engage and support volunteers by fostering positive relationships, addressing conflicts, identifying training opportunities, and helping bridge performance gaps to ensure a productive and mission aligned volunteer experience. Collaborate across departments to create impactful group engagement opportunities. Design inventive volunteer activities to increase participation and support long-term involvement. Strategically lead outreach and recruitment efforts that turn people's passion into impactful service. Recognize and celebrate their contributions to the organization and the animals we serve. Manage onboarding, training, communication, and compliance processes. Use data and insights to track volunteer engagement impact. Provide guidance and professional development to the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator. Work routine Manager-on-Duty shifts overseeing shelter operations. What to Expect A combination of office, shelter, outdoor, and community-based work environments. Shared office workspace. To serve as a warm and professional organization ambassador to the community. Occasional interaction with domestic and wildlife animals. Exposure to loud noises and potential animal-related risks, like bites and zoonotic illnesses. To be physically active; walking, standing, and lifting (up to 50 pounds with assistance) throughout the workday. The need for safety awareness, we do work with animals after all. This program touches nearly every part of the organization and enhances Anderson Humane's community presence. Annual Salary: $50,000 - $60,000 Immediate accrual of Paid Time Off hours. What We're looking for Ability to work flexible schedule including, weekdays, evenings, weekends, holidays, and as needed. Experience leading and managing large groups. Previous experience growing a high-impact program of volunteers. Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in volunteer or community engagement, or nonprofit program management. Proven ability to mentor in a cooperative style that builds trust and accountability. Ability to effectively establish and develop positive reciprocal relationships; fondness for working with the public.
