Duties: Serves as working leader over three or more employees in accomplishing trades and labor work. Passes on to workers instructions received from supervisor and as needed, demonstrate proper work methods Distributes and balances workload to improve workflow or to accommodate unexpected work surges. Answers workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directions. Informs workers of changes in policies and procedures. Provides information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, overall work operations and problems. Packs and/or preserves a variety of items. Determines the materials, containers, devices and/or preservatives needed. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Effort: Stands on hard surfaces maintaining balance for extended periods of time. Work requires bending, stooping, reaching and twisting in tiring and uncomfortable positions, many times all at the same time. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds. Uses weight handling equipment or receives assistance from other workers for items heavier than 40 pounds. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls when operating materials handling equipment. Working Conditions: Work is performed within a warehouse or storage environment that may or may not have air conditioning or heating. Works outside and inside in areas that are hot, damp, cold, drafty, and poorly lighted. Subject to cuts, scrapes, bruises, muscle strain, noise, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock. Drug-Free Workplace Policy The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is committed to maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace. All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing.
