Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 04/06/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Apr 6, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Critical Care Float Pool position requiring prior travel experience and the ability to float across multiple units and facilities on a night shift schedule. Details 13-week contract at an acute care hospital in Boise, ID Float Pool covering ER, ICU, Med/Surg, Tele, L&D/Postpartum, and NICU across three facilities (Boise, Meridian, and Nampa) RNs float within their specialty only and will never be floated to a lower acuity unit; may also float to any facility to serve as a 1:1 sitter Unit assignment is provided via app approximately 1 hour before each shift; all three facilities are approximately 20 minutes apart and easily accessible off the interstate Night shift: 7p–7a, 12-hour shifts Weekends required as needed; holiday coverage filled in as needed Travelers are first priority for floating and may be floated mid-shift at any time No self-scheduling; block scheduling is attempted but not guaranteed; no special scheduling requests accepted Patient ratios: ER 1:4, ICU 1:1–2, Med/Surg 1:5, Tele 1:4, Peds 1:3, NICU 1:4 Nurse aides/patient care techs available on units at ratios of approximately 1:8–10 depending on floor and day Charge nurse present on all units; float pool has 7 assistant managers with one always on call 24/7 Titration of drips required in ICU, ER, Tele, and Med/Surg settings (e.g., insulin on Med/Surg) ICU, ER, Tele, and PICU nurses must be able to read and interpret telemetry/monitor data No on-call or standby requirement EMR: Epic Requirements Active ID or Compact RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted Required certifications (must be active, not pending): BLS required for all specialties; ACLS required for ER, ICU, and Tele; NIHSS required Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty required Previous travel nursing experience required Antepartum and mother baby experience highly preferred for L&D float candidates Epic EMR experience Valid driver's license required 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Additional Information Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted Former permanent employees of this health system must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment Orientation consists of a meet-and-greet on day 1 followed by 3 shifts of inpatient orientation (24 orientation hours total) Float pool leadership, including an educator and administrative team, maintain a shared email and actively round with travelers during days, nights, and weekends No specific scrub color required; clean and professional appearance expected NICU travelers will generally be assigned feeder/grower patients only American Traveler Job ID P-682113.
